Go inside this three-story Highland Park home with loads of Southern charm

It’s porch season in Texas, and this Highland Park home has an abundance of space for outdoor dinners and evening entertaining.

The home was built in 2011, but it has details that give it a traditional Southern feel. Listing agent Joan Eleazer of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty said the design is authentic and looks like it could fit in many historic neighborhoods across the southern states.

“It’s for the people that love sort of a timeless, traditional, Southern style,” she said.

The home is 7,745 square feet with four bedrooms, four bathrooms and two half-bathrooms. It’s on the market for $6,800,000.

The front of the home features porches on the first and second level that span the width of the home. There’s a unique, curved staircase in the foyer of the home that Eleazer said was designed, along with other details in the home, to mimic the work of noted architect A. Hays Town. The property was custom designed by architect Paul Turney and built by Rusty Goff, Eleazer said.

A formal living room and a study flank either side of the foyer. The study has an abundance of built-in bookcases, a fireplace and access to the lower front patio through sets of French doors. The home’s main living areas — a kitchen, breakfast area, and large living room — share an open-concept design that allows plenty of space for entertaining.

The expansive primary suite is on the second level and has a tall ceiling, its own sitting room, a large bathroom with dual vanities and two closets.

Two additional bedrooms sit on the second level, each with en suite bathrooms and access to the second-level patio at the front of the home. The third level of the home includes the fourth bedroom and en suite bathroom, along with a game room and craft room.

The back patio has an outdoor kitchen, and a large courtyard. A guest house provides an extra bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette for visitors.

The home at 3825 Potomac Ave. is listed by Joan Eleazer of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty. Photos of this listing were taken by Full Package Media.
