Overhead garage store racks sold at Home Depot recalled because they may fall on you

Loctek has recalled its Fleximounts overhead garage storage racks because the buckle on the support cables may fail, causing the racks to fall and hit someone.

About 17,500 of the racks were sold at Home Depot stores and online at Amazon, Wayfair, eBay, Walmart, Home Depot and Fleximounts from October 2020 through April 2022 for about $230, according to an announcement with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Although no one has been injured, the commission said the company “has received 18 reports of the U-shaped buckles on the supporting cables failing and the storage racks falling from the garage ceiling.”

Product details are:

  • Fleximounts Overhead Garage Storage Racks, model GL44B.

People who bought the racks should contact Loctek for a free repair kit. The kit includes an instructional video link on how to install the additional support.

For more information, call Loctek at 855-585-5618 anytime; send an email to [email protected]; or go to the website and click on “recalls” under the company menu at the bottom of the page.
