This six-bedroom Spanish Colonial home in Highland Park has an architectural link to a Dallas icon

This Highland Park home is dripping with detail, from the decorative ceiling designs to the elaborate railings along the stairway.

Built in 1936, this home is the work of John Allen Boyle, who is known as the original architect of the Mansion on Turtle Creek (now the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek). The home is 14,407 square feet and has six bedrooms, eight full bathrooms and five half-bathrooms.

It’s on the market for $15,750,000, listed by Faisal Halum of Briggs Freeman Sotheby’s International Realty.

“It’s an iconic property,” Halum said.

The sellers have owned the home since the 1980s, and they expanded the original design to include four more bedrooms, a great room and a gym.

The Spanish Colonial home at 4201 Armstrong Parkway has a light-filled entryway with marble floors and a stained-glass window adjacent to the staircase. The entry leads to a two-level foyer with column details, an elaborate stairway railing and light that streams in through two large windows. A formal living room and formal dining room sit on either side of the entry, each complete with intricate details like afireplace and hand-crafted ceiling design.

The home’s kitchen is expansive, complete with a massive center island, wood cabinets with carved details, and plenty of space for both a desk and breakfast area.

Additional living rooms on the first floor include a great room, a billiard room, a sitting room, a library, a “hobby” room and an exercise room.

The primary suite sits on the second level, off in its own wing of the home. The bedroom is complete with a fireplace, and the suite includes two walk-in closets and a marble-filled bathroom.

The remaining five bedrooms are on the second floor, each with en suite bathrooms. There’s an office, a craft room and a den on the second level, too.

Outside, the property’s expansive 1.5 acres offer room for a pool and a gazebo on the landscaped grounds.
